So, Merry Christmas to everyone reading and best wishes for the new year.
And painting, philosophy and poetry. Oh and cake making, but that doesn't begin with a P.

Vintage style bracelet
I was having a play around today with some beads and took out a mixed bag of beads I got in Covent Garden for £2. There were some pretty acrylic (I think) beads which were asking to be made into something but I felt they were a little plain. So, I pulled out a heavy bag of Tibetan silver beads, charms and bead caps I've been using over the last three years and pulled out the bead caps. I used some nearly black eyepins to put the combination of bead caps and beads on, then put them together with nearly black jump rings and finished off with a lobster clasp. I really like the combination of beads and aged looking findings.

In Memoriam
The darkness grows in my soul,
As I sit and look out from this hole
There is nothing to see, there is no moon
Yet the dawn will be arriving very soon.
Sat here like this for days on end
Those behind the lines cannot comprehend
The fear and the terror we must face
When their orders come to us post haste.
No one remembers how long we fought
We still hear the screams of those that were caught.
Barbed wire and machine guns too much to bear
The bodies just left in a field somewhere.
We had little chance, but gained a few feet
A victory it was called, though we thought it a defeat
A thousand men went out there, in such a short time
Those that came back only numbered nine.

I'm terrible
See, I'm useless at this blogging thing. Maybe I need to choose a day to do updates on and put a reminder in my diary, that would at least be a start. But for now, lets see. I've made a few cakes and a few bracelets in the last week or so and all of them have been received well. In fact the cakes have been fairly well demolished! I managed to sneak a couple of pieces away so I could enjoy some! Otherwise I have been pondering the question of philosophy and beliefs. Something which I do quite often so I think it will be time to have another read of Henry David Thoreau's Walden and maybe dip into Civil Disobedience as well. Cracking essays. For now though, I'm going to enjoy a nice glass of whisky and catch up with some QI.

Blogging land
Here I am again trying a new blog and seeing if I can be a little more reliable with my updates. I'm hoping to get on at least once a week and you have my permission to shout at me if I'm not blogging. My crafting has taken off a little more recently as I've had a drop in hours at work, so I am taking the opportunity to create more. So far this week I've managed five bracelets (pictures to come soon, I promise-need daylight to photograph them), my first bags of "Reindeer Poop" and my first Christmas card of the year (photo to follow as well). It doesn't sound like much, but it's not too bad considering I had been letting my crafting fall by the wayside until I needed to make something for someone. Next week I'm hoping to take my camera for a little walk around and get some autumnal pictures which I will also be sharing (once my card reader shows up in the post).
For now though, I'm going to stop typing and go back to reading other people's blogs.
